If you’re investing a chunk of cash in your exhibition stand, you need a full-volume  design that stops people in their tracks.

The kind they’ll bypass the freebies and wheel-of-fortune for. Something creative and memorable, that goes far beyond bland corporate signage.

How do you make that happen? You need the right strategy. Start by getting under the skin of your ideal customer. Who are they really? What do they want? And what are the triggers they respond to?

When you really know your crowd, it focuses your design decisions, making it that much easier to reel them in and hit your targets for the event. It’s not about trying to appeal to everyone – it’s about speaking directly to the people you want to engage with. After all, 20 high quality leads are far more valuable to your business than 500 random email contacts who aren’t ever going to become buyers.

Be unforgettable

Here’s how to stick in their minds long after the event’s over.

  • SURPRISE! Unexpected design wins every time. Add something weird, witty, or stylishly wonky. Take ideas from art galleries, street food vans, graffiti, vintage shops – anything with a bit of edge.

  • Polish ‘til it shines. Great stands don’t have to be complicated, just really, really well done. Crisp layout, professional-looking print, and impeccable build quality. The attention to detail that speaks volumes about your brand without saying a word.
  • Connect emotionally. Emotional experiences and reactions are your most powerful tools for sticking in people’s heads. Use humour, a flash of nostalgia, a moving story, or an irresistible attraction. Get them invested and they’ll want to know more.

Shout, don’t whisper

Go big. Go all-in. Make yours the stand everyone’s talking about:

  • Showcase your best work: Everyone loves a before-and-after story. Show the transformation your clients experienced after working with you. Use split-screen visuals, timelines with attitude, oversized stats, or even a physical reveal wall. Make them feel the transformation – and they’ll want the same for themselves.

  • Big and bold: The best exhibition stand designs grab attention. Use bright colours and 10-foot graphics that shout “Look at me!” and make your stand impossible to miss.

Create an experiential exhibition stand: Do the things no–one else is doing and make your visitors feel something. One of our clients took an emotive, nostalgic spin on their trade show stand, complete with  a DeLorean car, milkshake bar and walk-through time tunnel of their product’s evolution!

Create an experiential trade show stand

Create a playground of things to do. Be the big, red button visitors just have to press. Add things to test, try or play with, and you’ll create a buzz that spreads around the event.

  • Put on a show: Live demos are pure crowd-magnets. Cook it, click it, build it, print it – whatever shows your product or service off best. When people see things live, they get it. When they try it themselves, they want it.

  • Channel some living-room energy: Add a couple of comfy chairs, refreshments, and a bit of space to breathe. Give people somewhere to relax and have a proper talk. The best conversations happen when no one’s doing the hard sell.

  • Dangle an irresistible carrot: Offer a prize that turns heads – something hilarious, useful, or just flat-out amazing. Whether it’s a cool branded hoodie, or a chance to win something unique – a night in a treehouse, a year’s supply of fancy snacks, hard cash. Whatever it is, make it so good they’d queue for it twice.

Get the details right

The big stuff grabs attention. The little stuff makes people fall in love. Details give your stand personality – and make people want to invest time in getting to know you.

  • Mood lighting: Warm lighting gives your stand a welcoming feel. Use spotlights to pick out key products or zones, and play with colour to add personality. Thoughtful lighting can lift the whole space, making everything look better – including you!
  • Get their senses going: Add texture, movement, scent – anything that makes your stand feel alive. Use materials people want to touch, or product samples they can taste. Smell is powerful too – coffee, sawdust, fresh herbs…. The more sensory your experience, the longer they’ll want to stay.

  • Wear your values on your sleeve: If sustainability matters to you, show it. Upcycle furniture with a modern twist, or use faux neon LED lighting for a low-carbon but high impact solution. These choices speak volumes about who you are – and will attract visitors on the same wavelength.

Your next exhibition is a chance to make a lasting impression on the people you most want to work with. When your stand is built around them – what they care about, what grabs their attention, what gets them talking – you’ll see a real return on your investment.

It’s time to trust your gut, come up with brave ideas, and build the best exhibition stand that does something different. Give us a shout if you need a hand.
