How to make World Travel Market London a successful exhibition for your business

Before you commit to exhibiting, get clear on your goals. Exhibiting is a significant investment, so you’ll want to make sure every penny works hard. Are you looking to build brand awareness? Generate leads? Connect with decision-makers ready to place orders? Defining your objectives will make your whole experience at World Travel Market London much more effective.

Next, budget smartly. Your booth needs to stand out and grab attention while leaving room for the other essentials – like engaging displays, furniture, marketing materials, and technology.

Live demos and interactive displays draw crowds, but power, equipment, and compliance all need to be sorted in advance. To get ahead on your logistical needs, partner with experienced exhibition booth builders like us. We can handle the organisation, paperwork and health & safety to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Once you’ve worked out your goals, how are you going to measure success? Are you aiming for 50 solid leads? Do you want 10 buyers ready to commit on the spot? Specific targets keep your team focused and help you track your ROI.

Finally, put everything together in a detailed exhibition brief. Don’t skip this step – because whether you’re going it alone or working with a booth-building partner like us, thorough planning and design will save you money, effort and avoid many potential headaches.

If you want advice to bring your ideas to life, we’re here to help. Our handy briefing guide walks you through every step; so download your free copy below.

The right booth should be eye-catching and exciting, and designed specifically for the audience you want to reach. We’ve seen clients close deals before the event ends because their booth was well thought through, clearly communicated what they do, and attracted the right people.”

Exhibition booths we can build at WTM London 2025

ExCeL London is one of Europe’s premier exhibition spaces with many different options on their floorplan menu, so the sky’s the limit when it comes to creative design.

Here are our top booth options:

Scrochiarella | Motive Exhibitions | Stand Builders

Built from the ground up to match your brand and business goals, bespoke booths give you complete creative freedom.

Whether you opt for a single or double-deck booth, bold graphics, interactive elements, or a sleek product showcase, this option really makes you booth out from the competition.

Colpac | Packaging Innovations 2025 | Motive Exhibitions | Stand Builders

A flexible, cost-effective solution, modular booths can be reconfigured for different events.

Made up of interlocking components like giant Lego sets, they create a seamless, professional display without the price tag of a fully custom build.

We’ve designed a huge range of high-impact modular booths over the years, to wow Excel London’s visitors. It’s an ideal choice if you’re not ready to invest in a permanent booth, and you can combine modular frameworks with custom features, without the higher costs of a permanent, custom-built display.

Story Experience | Motive Exhibitions | Stand Builders

Shell scheme exhibition booths are a budget-friendly option, and come in a range of sizes from 3m x 3m to 6m x 3m or 8m x 3m, often as part of all-inclusive packages.

These booths may be smaller, but they still offer plenty of room to get creative. With the right design, a shell scheme can be just as effective as a larger setup.

Ideal for those new to exhibiting or testing the waters, shell schemes include flooring, lighting, and power (500 watts). You can also ask to remove the fascia board to help make the space feel more open. The larger the booth, the more you can add, such as product displays or video walls.

Exhibition booth hire

If your plans for the next year aren’t finalised and you’re not ready to commit to a permanent booth, our exhibition hire service is the perfect solution.

You can rent an entire modular booth or just specific pieces, or even mix and match custom-made elements with rented items.

Hiring is both cost-effective and sustainable – a great budget-friendly choice, especially if this is your first big show.

Everything you need to know about exhibiting at the ExCel, London

ExCeL London is a giant in the exhibition world – with a capacity to host up to 70,000 visitors at once and welcoming more than 4 million guests each year.

It’s one of our favourite venues to work at, thanks to its central location and great accessibility. We’re just 90 minutes away, which is handy since we’re setting up booths there all the time!

Part of London’s historic docklands, ExCeL boasts 100,000m² of flexible event space, split between two huge halls, with outdoor areas and conference suites. It’s a really large site, so make sure you’re wearing comfy shoes.

ExCeL London also has fantastic transport links. It’s close to London City Airport, multiple bus routes, three DLR stations, and it has its own Elizabeth Line station. Central London is just 15 minutes away by public transport. And if you’re driving, there are 3,000 parking spaces available.

There’s a wide variety of hospitality options on site and in the immediate local area. From hotels to bars, cafes and restaurants – something to suit everyone’s taste and budget.

Remember: you must wear hi-vis vests for setup days – they’re an essential entry requirement!

The pros and cons of the ExCel, London

The pros:

  • A generous 100,000m² of flexible space provides space for even the biggest, boldest designs.
  • Excellent transport links make it one of the most accessible exhibition venues in the UK.
  • There are 19 hotels conveniently located on-site or just a minute’s walk away.
  • It’s a logistical dream, simplifying the process of bringing in vehicles and equipment for both setup and breakdown.
  • Comprehensive on-site support is available, covering everything from catering to rigging and audiovisual maintenance.
  • Enjoy a diverse range of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, and bars right on the premises.
  • The waste removal teams do an impressive job of keeping the venue and show floors clean each day.
  • There’s ample parking for over 3,000 vehicles.

The cons:

  • Floorspace at this venue is some of the most expensive in the country.
  • Additional venue charges, such as those for rigging, internet connectivity, and logistics, can also significantly impact your budget.
  • On-site parking costs £25 a day, so be sure to include this in your overall show budget.
  • Food and drink prices at the venue can be steep, contributing to the overall expense of exhibiting.
  • Despite the higher costs, ExCeL is a popular venue, and prime spaces fill up quickly; early booking is essential to avoid missing out.
  • Given the venue’s size, it’s important to double-check access points to ensure you bring equipment in through the correct entry; otherwise, you may face a long trek!

Motive was a brilliant company to work with. They were so accommodating (especially given our extremely tight deadline) and came up with some great concepts that suited our budget.

From initial conversations with David, through the design stages with Ed, right through to the set-up and build at our event , Motive was a super team to work with. They took away so much of the stress and hassle that events can sometimes bring.

We definitely recommend them!”

Can we hire our exhibition booth?

Yes! You can ship your materials to us, and we will pack them up with the rest of your booth for transportation.
