CASE STUDY
NEXTERA® bespoke exhibition stand case study at Plant Based World Expo, packing multiple functions into a small footprint
NEXTERA® needed to demonstrate serious food engineering credentials in a small footprint. Motive Exhibitions packed in everything they needed without it showing

Plant Based World Expo
Location:
ExCeL, London
NEXTERA® partnered with Motive Exhibitions for Plant Based World Expo at ExCeL London, needing a bespoke exhibition stand that could house a display area, cookery demo space, chilled storage, presentation area and cleaning facilities within a small footprint. The stand delivered a welcoming hospitality feel that communicated food engineering expertise
Demonstrating food engineering excellence
NEXTERA®’s objective for this show was to promote their range of plant-based ingredients (used to make plant-based food and meat substitutes) and their expertise in food engineering.
A small stand packed full of equipment
We needed to showcase NEXTERA®’s products without using pictures or graphics of the actual food their ingredients are used to create.
They also had a lot of requirements: a display area for cooked foods and ingredients, a presentation space, a cookery demonstration function, chilled storage space and the ability to clean all of their cooking equipment.
A lot to fit onto a 6m x 3m stand!
A welcoming hospitality environment
This was a collaborative project; we knew the client would need choices. So we presented three stand design options, then worked together over about six months to finalise the perfect combination.
Around half of the space was turned into a U-shaped kitchen area featuring a wooden countertop, under-counter fridge-freezers, a storage cupboard, a built-in sink, and power outlets for the cooking equipment. We teamed this with a display screen that gave visitors all the finer details about the NEXTERA® ingredients used in the cooking demos.
To give the stand design a welcoming hospitality feel, we fitted a breakfast bar into the U-shape demo area so visitors could sit and watch their food samples being made in front of them.
The other half of the space focused on displaying the actual ingredients and cooked dishes. We created some test-tube holders from the same wood as the kitchen counter; these were used to demonstrate NEXTERA®’s product range. Keeping the cooked dishes fresh was a big challenge, so we hid some chiller plates in the display cabinets!
