What is a custom exhibition stand build?
A custom exhibition stand is a unique and personalised display stand that is specifically designed and built to meet the specific requirements of an individual exhibitor.
A custom – or bespoke exhibition stand is usually designed by a professional exhibition stand builder or designer, who works with you to create a design that reflects your brand identity, marketing objectives, and desired level of engagement with visitors.
The stand builder then constructs the stand on-site, using a variety of materials, such as: wood, metal, fabric and graphics. This creates a visually appealing and functional space for the exhibitor.

Can we request certain kinds of materials on our stand?
Absolutely! Every aspect of the stand is tailored to your brand. If your brand is focused on sustainability or you use natural materials to create your products, you are not going to want to use materials that do not align with your brand’s ethos and values.
How does the design process for custom build stands work?
The design process takes into account your brief; incorporating as many elements as possible, including your budget. We are seeing more requests for flexible, reusable and environmentally conscious stands that are extendable, and reconfigurable.
We will also recommend other ways to bring your stand to life, this may include: interactive games, LED lightboxes to illuminate your stand, eye catching video walls to add movement and exhibit your products virtually or custom-made shapes, as well as displays to add a premium and personalised touch.
Unveiling the magic: how our trade show stands are made.
No off-the-shelf options here! All of our stand designs are bespoke, designed and built to create personalised and tailored elements that make the most of every inch of your stand.
The design process will consider your requirements, the preferred materials and some Motive magic to bring the idea together. We’ll then build your trade stand in our workshop onsite.
Depending on the stand, we’ll use sustainably sourced wood, metal, acrylic, vinyl and glass to create your stand.
We may combine an aluminium modular stand framework, which you can hire from us, making a large portion of your stand cheaper to create, and easier to reconfigure, extend or reduce the size of your stand without the need for your entire stand to be redesigned and rebuilt. It’s also lighter and smaller for transportation.
Once your stand is a few weeks away from being built in the exhibition hall, we’ll invite you to our workshop to see your stand in person, fully built. This is a perfect opportunity to walk through your stand with our exhibition stand designers before you see it in the exhibition hall.
Who installs our bespoke exhibition stand?
We can install and dismantle your exhibition stand for you. Every stand is pre-checked before it gets loaded up to go out to an exhibition, and our team is onsite and quickly ready to start work on the build.
We’ll liaise with you or the event organisers to deal with any of the exciting paperwork and organise our slot to offload your stand on the exhibition stand build days. These days will differ depending on the size of your stand.
We’ll also meet you on your stand when you arrive, to run through the stand and how any tech that is on the stand works.
It is also worth noting that a professional exhibition build team are worth their weight in gold on the day of dismantling your stand; you are given a very limited time to get the stand dismantled and out at the end of the show.
This sounds expensive. How much does a custom stand cost?
How long is a piece of string? There are so many variables here. We design small custom stands that cost £3000 and others that are huge and require heavy equipment to be shipped into place which cost £250,000.
However, there are definitely ways to make your budget go further.
If you’ve booked multiple exhibitions for your brand or business, it’s a good idea to get a clear understanding of how each stand will look ahead of time. With good planning and a strong initial concept, it’s likely that parts (or all!) of your stand can be reused later down the line.
A good piece of advice at this point is to book similar size spaces if you can.
If you’re attending events where you have the same size floorspace, you can use the same stand over and over again. Or you can easily tweak the design to make it fit slightly different spaces throughout the year, without having to start from scratch.
