Testo’s InstallerSHOW exhibition stand: energy & personality with a fresh design

A fresh look for an established brand

Testo came to us with big ideas for InstallerSHOW at Birmingham NEC – a modernised, updated exhibition stand to help launch their 860i Thermal Imaging Camera, and generate a ton of sales and leads. They wanted an exhibition stand with energy and personality, to draw people in and give them plenty of reasons to stay and chat. 

The new brief was simple: take what worked last time, give it a fresh look, but also soften the design so it felt more welcoming. Having partnered together for years, the Testo team knew they could trust Motive to take their ideas and run with them, and create something bold and exciting.

A fresh take on an established brand

The new 6.5m × 6.5m stand was open, inviting and full of clever touches, with clear routes to product areas and space for live demos. We swapped the big, rigid graphics for warm timber walling – inspired by one of Testo’s continental stands – which gave the space a softer, more contemporary feel.

The star of the show was a custom LED arch, lit inside and out, with floor lighting leading visitors straight into the heart of the stand before splitting off to the product zones. It also hid a clever interactive feature – an underfloor heating pad – revealed by their thermal camera at the flick of a switch.

We reused, refurbished and repainted Testo’s shelving and display units, keeping the stand sustainable and costs down. A large LED video wall added movement and made the stand easy to spot from across the hall. The overall effect was warmer, more open, and perfectly set up to show off their new innovations.

Crowd-pleasing touches that kept the stand buzzing

Testo’s tote giveaway is always a crowd favourite, so the design was built with this in mind. This year Testo came armed with 12 pallets – over 3,000 totes – and queues formed very quickly! The preparation and design really helped things along, with built-in cupboard space to store the trolley, so the team could easily restock their merch in response to demand.

A strategic layout also meant the crew could grab a bite without missing the action – a life-saver when the stand was packed from morning till close.

Strong partnerships bring fantastic results

This was the fourth stand Motive has created for Testo at InstallerSHOW, and each year it’s grown bigger and better. The arch is now part of Testo’s own kit, ready to roll out at future events.

InstallerSHOW is their flagship event, and 2025 delivered in spades – with more badge scans than any other exhibitor, products sold straight off the stand, and a pipeline full of leads.
