the brief
The folk at LuxFilms needed to find exhibition designers as creative as them and who could show off their brand in a unique way demonstrating the brand personality and the quality of their work. They were filming the exhibition to provide an opportunity for attendees and other exhibitors to find out more about them.
The conceptual process
The LuxFilms team came to us with a rough concept drawn out in PowerPoint and articulated they wanted to create something different to other exhibitors. We knew we were up against another exhibition company much bigger than us to win this dream exhibition stand. We also knew we could interpret their brief and propose several concepts that would knock their socks off.
Edward, the Project Manager said: “It’s not often we get to work with fellow creatives. It made the process particularly exciting as they could visualise the more quirky ideas we were presenting to them. We interpreted the brief a little differently from their original ideas.”

Making a first exhibition stand easy and fun
This was the first time LuxFilms had exhibited, and we wanted to make it fun and creative for them. We ensured they knew what was going on throughout the process, suggesting ideas and options to make their first stand something that would create the wow factor.

Bespoke ideas to create a one-off stand
We tied in our signage knowledge and capabilities and suggested adding a 3D illuminated sign. We proposed several features to give the stand for a truly bespoke, one-off feel; these included amping up the feature bar and editing suite. We took inspiration from their logo and created a bespoke desk using the X from the LuxFilms logo. After a few tweaks, the final concept was approved and the wheels were in motion on the production.

A hybrid modular and custom stand
The back wall of the exhibition stand was modular with lightweight fabric panels printed with bricks seamlessly integrated with a custom-built wall, roof, 3D lettering and illuminated sign. The rigid structural elements included a bar for people to sit at and an editing suite with a large monitor. We wanted to create a stand that complemented the brand colours and used materials that were soft and tactile. Combining modular and custom elements kept the overall structure light and transport costs down. It had a positive impact on cost too as it enabled them to rent a proportion of the stand.

What Made This Project Unique
We appreciated the stand was a big investment for them, so it has been designed to be reused in the future and repurposed. We delivered the X desk to their offices and it now doubles up as a reception desk. The 3D illuminated sign was taken down at the exhibition and installed in their offices too, so they now have the most customised elements making a statement in their office which is great. When they exhibit again, we’ll come in, take them down and install them on their exhibition stand. That way they get to enjoy their two-day exhibition stand investment every day. It also means they’ve made their biggest investment on the first stand but every stand from now will look as good as the first.
